Representing Indonesia and Receiving the Outstanding Delegation Award at NMUN 2026

In April 2026, the University of Tübingen delegation travelled to New York City to participate in the National Model United Nations (NMUN), the world’s largest and most prestigious university-level Model United Nations conference. Representing the Republic of Indonesia, our delegation joined thousands of students from across the globe to engage in diplomacy, negotiate solutions to pressing international challenges, and experience the work of the United Nations first-hand.
What followed was the culmination of an entire academic year of preparation, collaboration, and commitment.
Months before arriving in New York, delegates immersed themselves in the political priorities, foreign policy positions, and diplomatic perspectives of Indonesia. Through weekly meetings, intensive research, position paper writing, and negotiation training, students prepared themselves to step into the role of diplomats and represent their assigned country as authentically and professionally as possible.
Upon arriving in New York, delegates participated in committee sessions covering a wide range of global issues, from human rights and environmental sustainability to international security and nuclear non-proliferation. Throughout the conference, students worked with peers from universities around the world to draft resolutions, build coalitions, negotiate compromises, and seek common ground across diverse perspectives.
For many delegates, one of the most inspiring moments of the week was visiting the United Nations Headquarters. Standing in the halls where diplomats and world leaders meet to address global challenges offered a powerful reminder of the importance of dialogue, cooperation, and multilateralism in an increasingly interconnected world.
Beyond the committee sessions, NMUN provided an unparalleled opportunity for personal and professional growth. Delegates strengthened their public speaking, negotiation, leadership, and intercultural communication skills while building friendships and networks that extended far beyond national borders. The conference demonstrated that diplomacy is not simply about defending positions, but about listening, understanding different viewpoints, and working collectively toward shared solutions.
The hard work and dedication of the delegation were ultimately recognized through exceptional conference results. The University of Tübingen delegation was awarded the Outstanding Delegation Award, one of the highest distinctions presented at NMUN.
In addition, delegates received Outstanding Position Paper Awards in four committees:

- General Assembly First Committee (GA1) – Aleksandr & Alesa
- Human Rights Council (HRC) – Sophia & Jasmin
- Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Process (NPT) – Samuel & Hyeon
- United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) – Lina & Jessica
These awards reflect not only individual excellence, but also the collective effort of an entire team that supported one another throughout the year. Every delegate contributed to creating an environment of collaboration, motivation, and shared learning that ultimately made this success possible.
Our participation in NMUN would not have been possible without the support of our faculty advisors, alumni, partners, and sponsors. Their commitment to international education enables students to engage directly with global affairs, develop practical diplomatic skills, and gain experiences that extend far beyond the classroom.
As we conclude this year’s journey, we look back with gratitude and pride. NMUN New York 2026 was not only an academic achievement, but also a reminder of the value of international cooperation, mutual understanding, and student engagement in addressing global challenges.
We hope that the experiences and successes of this year’s delegation will inspire future students to join NMUN Tübingen, challenge themselves, and contribute their voices to international dialogue.
From Tübingen to New York, from preparation rooms to committee chambers, and from research papers to diplomatic negotiations, this has been a journey we will never forget.
